Madi's fourth grade project and fun stuff

Madi got to go with all the fourth graders to the Hess Museum in Ashton Idaho. It was freezing! They had a real hodge-podge of stuff. Madi thought the desk that Joseph Smith used and the bed that Brigham Young made were interesting. She said that she wished Gus was there to tell her all about everything.
Making bread in a bag with a little sister on your lap is tricky. The kids all kneaded their own dough and then they made scones out of them. They talked about how pioneers couldn't just go to the store to buy bread and learned lots about fun things to do with bread dough.
But, do you notice the smile? Those are few and far between lately so I had to document it. That explains why she has Josie on her lap. Madi has a great teacher this year and a classroom full of boys that think she is really cute!

Madi's Idaho history project was a lovely 20 page typed story. It is totally incredible. We had lots and lots of help finding pictures and names and general encouragement. Her story was more than enough for her grade, but we did a poster to go with it because no one would have time to read her story. She put pictures of landmarks along the way and included exerpts from her story too. She got a ribbon and a special certificate. Her teacher also kept her story and is passing it around to everyone. They are going to put it in a special display at the district office for exceptional work. Her teacher would really like her to keep refining it and see if she could get it published. We are so proud of her and just thrilled that it is all over! Oh, I am also trying to get her to put it in the county fair (I am not sure how that works.).
